If you attend Crownestown, St Ernan’s or St Tolas’s national schools, here are details of this years competition.

This is a special year for Delvin as we are celebrating the 100th Anniversary of ‘The Valley of the Squinting Windows’ by Brinsley Macnamara.  This book was set in the village of Garradrimna  in 1918.  People did not like the book and were angry because they believed it was based on our town and the people who lived there at the time.  It did not paint a pretty picture of village life.

We want you to show that Delvin is a great place to live.  This year we are running an Art Competition and prizes will be awarded on the day of the Book Fair – May 6th.  In the book, everyone was unkind to one another and the village was divided.  For this special year we are not going to make the competition between schools.  Each school will have one winner in each age group.  There will still be special Icecream Tokens for pictures we think are special.  Check out the poster to find out more.

Hope to see you all at the Fair!
